Okay so here it finally is! Amelia wanted a dress for July 4th so I went to Hobby Lobby and got some fabric. I line my dresses so I had to get double fabric. I got 2 yards of red chevron, 2 yards of white, and 1/2 yard of blue with stars.
I had a pattern already, but you can just fold a dress you already have in half and trace around the front of it. Pin it to the fabric so it stays in place when you cut it.
Cut around the pattern with a seam allowance.
Take what you just cut out and pin that to the fabric.
For the back of the dress you will need to measure your little one’s shoulders. I added 4 inches to the arms.
Cut this out. (No need to cut a seam allowance from here on out).
Now do the same to the rest of the fabric.
For the trim at the bottom I laid the fabric at the bottom and measured 2 1/2 inches of it. I then measured 2 inches from the bottom and pinned it. Be sure you flip the fabric.
Once you sew it, be sure to iron it down and zig zag stitch the bottom.
Now, lay the white fabric on top of your printed fabric and pin the top.
Once your sew that, be sure to snip along the edges close to the thread but not cutting it.
Once your sew both sides, line the back and front together.
Be sure to line the fabric up perfectly and also line up the trim at the bottom perfectly. Pin these.
Then pin down the sides.
Sew straight down the sides then flip out the dress. You’re almost done!
At the bottom, fold the seams and sew.
Add some buttons and VOILA! You’re very own jumper dress!
